Obituary of George H. Hayes

George H. Hayes, 73, of Solon, passed away on July 26, 2019. He was born on October 28, 1945 in Cortland, NY, the son of the late Herbert Hayes and Alice Richard. George was an avid Nascar fan and truly loved anything that had to do with racing. As a talented mechanic, George worked at the Chain Saw Center in Cortland. He was able to combine his skills as a mechanic with his love for racing and was the mechanic for his brother John while racing at the Skyline Race Way. George also worked as a long-haul trucker. He is survived by his loving wife Donna; daughters Lisa Marie Hayes, Fanny Elizabeth Hayes, brothers Kenneth Hayes, William "Wilbur" (Vicky) Hayes, Richard (Katie) Barnhart; sisters Betty Quail, Elsie Todd, Pearl McKane, Regina (Bob) Foster; grandchildren Ashley Hayes and Lance (Nicole) Hayes, Arykamae Landsdowne, Rachel Stone; and great grandson Lance Allen Hayes, brothers-in-law Ronald Miller, Stanley Miller, and Wayne Miller and a special nephew Ron Hayes In addition to his parents, he is also predeceased by his step mother Marie, whom loved him and raised him. A celebration of life will take place on August 3, 2019 at the McGraw Community Center, from 1-5pm. Burial will take place at a later time at the McGraw Cemetery. He will arrive to the cemetery in his beloved ½ ton, '68 Step Side Chevy. Those wishing to make memorial contributions may select a charity of their choice.
