Obituary of Patricia "Pat" Bushnell
Patricia A. Bushnell "Pat", 77, or Cortland, NY passed away unexpectedly on September 16, 2019 in Cortland, NY. She was born on January, 5, 1942 in Cortland, NY.
Pat's birth parents were Mary and Paul Elwood. She was raised by her grandparents, Edith and George Huson. Pat attended Homer High School. Pat worked as a Production Worker for many years at Smith Corona, as well as Sellco. After her years of service in the manufacturing field, Pat decided she wanted to provide home day care for small children in the area. She enjoyed the children in her care for many years and remembered them all fondly.
Pat was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. For anyone that understood and knew Pat, her family always came first. Both her sons loved racing. She went to the boy's races throughout the years and only when it was necessary to cheer them on, but didn't always like the action packed dangerous ways of racing. Pat took pride in her home and thoroughly enjoyed landscaping, tending to her flowers, cleaning and maintaining her home, and was a magnificent cook and baker. She enjoyed cooking and baking for her family and was an impeccable housecleaner. She certainly should have been a "test pilot" for any vacuum cleaner business in town. Pat also enjoyed her Dunkin Donut friends and their coffee click, as well as the ladies and staff at the Hollywood Restaurant.
Pat is survived by her husband of 62 years, Ronald James Bushnell "Pete." Survivors include two sons; Chris (Robin) Bushnell and Brent (Kristi) Bushnell. Her grandson; Benjamin Bushnell and Step- grandchildren; Ashley and Jennifer Tinker and Zachary Hatfield. Two sisters; Edith Rulison and Dodie Mike, endless brother and sister in-laws, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would sincerely like to thank the staff at the Guthrie Cortland Medical Center for their endless attempts in saving Pat.
The services will be PRIVATE and will be held at the convenience of the family and a celebration of life will be announced to family and close friends.
