Obituary of Robert Phillips

Robert H. Phillips, 82, of Homer, N.Y., passed away on October 25, 2019 at Guthrie Cortland Medical Center. He was born on February 8, 1937 in Homer, to his parents Henry S. Phillips and Mercy A. Fisk Phillips. Robert lived in Homer his entire life and was a proud Bus Driver for Homer Central Schools for 39 years. In addition to being a lifelong Dairy Farmer, he also worked as a Milk Delivery Driver. Farming was a passion of his and was work he truly enjoyed. Robert liked to spend time at his family ice cream stand, Country Flavors, and would help out in any way that he could. In his free time, one of his greatest joys was working with his antique tractors. He kept an immaculate lawn, not only mowing his lawn but mowed the road shoulders as well. Mowing the road shoulders even became a trend with the nearby houses. Robert is survived by his daughter, Rosemary Phillips; his brothers Richard, David, Howard, Paul Phillips; his sister Joyce Metcalf; four stepchildren and several step grandchildren. Robert is also survived by his beloved "fur babies." In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving wife of 41 years Jane Phillips and his brother Gerald Phillips. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday October 30, 2019 at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home, Inc. from 6 to 8pm. Funeral services will be Thursday at the Funeral Home beginning at 10am.
