Richard Mark Baumeister, 73, of Inlet, NY, passed away on October 27th surrounded by his loving family in Cortland at Guthrie Cortland Medical Center. Rick was born in Wilmington, Delaware to Victor and Virginia Baumeister on June 29, 1946. Rick boasted an illustrious career as a Public Defender for the State of Delaware; after retiring at the age of 52, he moved to Inlet with his late mother, enjoying his time restoring antique boats and beautifying his camp with his exceptional woodworking skills. Rick was an accomplished musician for all his life, and spent many days of the week playing piano and singing with a number of choirs, including the Hamilton College Choir and the chamber choir "Tapestry" as of late. A social man living alone in the wilderness, he will be remembered as always opening his doors for a meal, music, or a mystery film with his family and friends he held so dear. Rick is survived by his younger brother, Robert (Nasrin) Baumeister of Cortland, NY, as well as two nieces, Shelley and Robin, a nephew, Matthew, and five great nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents and loving sister, Marcia. A graveside service will be held privately at Centre Friends Meeting Cemetery,Centerville, Delaware.
