We met Grace in the store when we moved to Cortland in 1989, immediately feeling her friendliness and warmth as she advised us on hardware for our new Greenbush Street home. Bentley's was one of the first outings I made when our first son was born, and Grace fussed over him like an aunt. I was fortunate to be on the YWCA Board, which Grace so actively supported; she invited us to share in Presbyterian services even though we were lackadaisical lapsed Catholics. Grace knew no strangers. Our friendship continued through our move to Seattle, where she and Russ visited when they came to see their family. Her correspondence was faithful and delightful; her love of life was always an inspiration. I was on my way to the mailbox with her birthday card when I heard of her passing. I feel very lucky to have known her. My sincere sympathy to you all.
