Earl M. Pimm, 80 of Cortland, passed away October 30, 2019 at the Cortland Guthrie Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Pimm was born August 3, 1939 in Farmington, NY the son of the late Newton and Doris Hayward Pimm.
Mr. Pimm was a veteran of the US Navy, prior to his retirement he had been employed for the Rochester Lumber Co. for 35 years.
Earl married the love of his life his wife Susan Merklinger August 18, 1962. He was actively involved in many organizations throughout his lifetime including, the Grange where he titled as Master, the American Legion, Pumpkin Hook Volunteer Fire Department, Bow and Archery Club, Western Round and Square Dance Assoc., St. Januarius Church and Cortland Senior Citizens. He loved bowling, camping, cruising, dancing with Sue and Country Music.
He always took great pride in keeping his lawn looking topnotch and was a master fixer of anything broken. Until a month before his passing he was our Energizer Bunny out fixing his tractor, working on his fleece blankets for our craft show and still doing prep work at Paddy's Pub.
He will be missed by many for his infectious smile and laugh and his always positive manner especially through his last year battling multiple cancers. A huge thank you to Dr. Boufal, Natalie Elkins, Kerry Wilk, Diane Martin and the staff at Cortland Guthrie Regional for his care and Comfort to Earl and his family during his last week.
Earl is survived by his wife of 57 years Susan Merklinger Pimm, his daughter Theresa (Tony) Piombo of Cortland. A very close niece, Dawn Bradley. Three brothers; Ronald (Carol) Pimm of Fulton, NY, Roger (Linda) Pimm of Avon, NY, and Lavern Pimm of Webster, FL.. One sister Glendora Skipworth in Oregon, Step grandchildren; Heather (Forrest) Marshall, and their children Erich and Brandon and step grandson Rob Vantine in Florida, family members Alan(Pat) Merklinger, John(Gail) Merklinger, Francis Merklinger, Ruth Merklinger Deb Merklinger, Janet Starr. Many Nieces, nephews and friends.
Mr. Pimm was predeceased by his sisters Caroline Pimm and Arlene Lee, brothers in law; William , Grant and George Merklinger
A memorial service will be held on Monday at 12:00 PM at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home, 9 Lincoln Ave, Cortland with the Rev. Paul Alciati officiating.
