Betty Louise Mayerle Smith, 89 years old, Long time Resident of Marathon, NY, Died November 11, 2019, born in Pitcher, NY December 15, 1929. Betty is pre deceased by, Her loving husband of 55 years Marmand (Minnie) Smith, Parents John and Minnie Mayerle, Two sons Donald and David, Sisters: Vivian, Treva, Mae, Barbara, Arlene, Brothers: Donald, Carl. Betty is survived by Sister: Kay Gifford (Herman)Wichita falls,Texas, Children: Pamela Smith (Paul)Plew Valencia, California, Bonita Smith McLoud, Oklahoma, Norman Smith Cortland, New York, Grandchildren, Paul(Dawn)Plew II, Janelle Plew (Chris)Sonnenburg, both from Santa Clarita, California, Jason(Jenn) Plew Ventura, California, Matthew (Kris)O'Dell, Shawnee, Oklahoma, Miranda O'Dell (Chris) Cooper Gladewater, Texas, Great grandchildren: Farrell Plew, Arianna Sonnenburg, P.T. Plew III, Catalina Sonnenburg, Aidan Plew, Chase O'Dell, Zhoee O'Dell, Hazel Plew, Sawyer Plew, Adilynn Cooper. Betty was a member and past president of Osco Robinson Post 617 Ladies Auxiliary, She was past President of Cortland County American Legion Auxiliary serving two terms. A former member of the Marathon Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. Bus driver for Special Children's Center for nineteen years and bus driver for the Marathon Central School District. Betty worked the Election Poles for the Town of Lapeer. She was an avid bowler and in the bowling 500 Club at Marathon Lanes. She loved traveling and camping with her husband, was an amazing cook, and loved quilting and embroidering. She was a member of Lapeer Christian Church. Betty loved serving her community and her family. In lieu of flowers you may donate to the Marmand H. Smith Scholarship Fund at Marathon Central High School.
