John Petrie, 80, of Cortland, passed away on December 6, 2019 at Cortland Park Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing. John was born on October 1, 1939 in Pulaski, to his parents the late Rollo Petrie and Ethel Pettis Petrie. John retired from Homer Central Schools after working as a custodian for 18 years. In addition to Homer School, John also worked at Brockway Trucks. He is survived by his sons Arthur (AJ) Petrie of Homer and Scott (Shannon) Petrie of Johnstown, NY; his sister Lou Rabble of West Virginia; good friends, Isabelle Petrie and Rachel Gallardo, grandchildren Ian, Josh, Anthony, Isabelle, and Ethan Petrie; and great grandchildren Ignasious, Aurora, Vladimea. The family will receive guests on Tuesday from 11 to 11:45am at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home, Inc., with a service to follow at 12pm the funeral home. After the funeral, friends are welcome to join the family at the Pavilion behind the Homer Fire Station and American Legion for a gathering.
