Obituary of Janet M. Owens

Janet M. Owens, 76 of Cortland passed away on December 8, 2019 at Guthrie Cortland Medical Center. She was born on August 1, 1943 in Cortland, NY a daughter of the late Harold and Carlene Wilcox Canavan. Janet was previously employed as a line supervisor at Smith-Corona. She graduated from Cortland State in 1997 with a Bachelor's in Business Administration, and minor in Computer Science. She loved to travel and go on cruises. Janet was an avid bowler, and an avid golfer. Janet enjoyed shopping for ceramic arts. Janet spent a lot of time volunteering, she was very proud of her 500 hundred hours pin from Cortland Regional Medical Center. She also taught the AARP driving course. Janet is survived by her loving husband, Paul Owens, Jr., two sons, Mark (Lori) Owens, Kevin (Rebecca) Owens, one daughter, Kathleen Moss, two sister Sandy Wells and Donna Condo, three step children, eight grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her two brothers, David and Bobby Canavan one sister, Ann Foster. Calling hours will be and funeral service will be announced at a later date. Wright-Beard Funeral Home, Inc is assisting the family with arrangements.
