James Lundy Sr., 95, of Cortland, N.Y. passed away December 7, 2019. He was born on February 17, 1924 to the late John and Emily Nearpass Lundy. James served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII, serving from 1943-1945 in the Pacific Theatre and was honorably discharged. James was employed by the Sylvania Company and went on to retire from the United Air Lines. He served as the Deacon of the First Christian Church in Ponte Gorta, F.L., and was a member of the American Legion. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing but had a great love for his family and friends who will dearly miss him. James was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He is survived by his son James W. Lundy Jr., his brothers Robert and Eugene Lundy, his sister Evelyn Gallow, his grandson Bruce Hobbs and wife Stamatia Hobbs, his great grandchildren Basil and Idalia, along with several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his wife of 75 years on October 19, 2019 Wilma Lundy, and his sisters Elizabeth Fox, Alice Putnam, and Marion Burnett. A calling hour will be held Sunday December 15, 2019 from 12-1pm at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home, 9 Lincoln Ave., with a funeral service to follow at 1pm. Graveside services will be held Monday December 16, 2019 at 12pm at the Butler Savannah Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the First Christian Church in Ponta Gorta, F.L.
