Obituary of James J. Hoffert

James Joseph Hoffert, 84, of Moravia, NY passed away at Guthrie Cortland Medical Center on December 27th, 2019. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elsie M. Taylor and George A. Hoffert, his first wife, Patricia Pellam and daughter, Renae Marie who passed away during childbirth, grandson Gary McMillen II, daughter in law Danielle, four sisters, Agnes, Margaret, Anne, and Angeline and one brother, Lester. James is survived by his wife Alice, two sons, Dominic and Daniel and daughter Arlene (Gary) McMillen. He is also survived by five grandchildren, one great grandson, his sister Catherine and many nieces and nephews. James proudly served in the US Army and the Army National Guard for a combined 26 years. He was honorably discharged and retired from service in 1995. Jim worked for many years at Smith Corona in Cortland, NY until his retirement. Jim loved nature and photography. He will be greatly missed. Private services will be held at the family's convenience.
