Obituary of Agnes J. Renzi
Please share a memory of Agnes to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Agnes J. Renzi died on February 5, 2020. Agnes was born on April 7, 1929 in Stratford Connecticut. She was an accomplished singer with a wonderful soprano voice. She was a member of the Our Lady of Peace Church choir and a soloist with the German Sanger fest in Stratford. For many years Agnes was a member of the Polka Dot Playhouse where she performed in both singing and acting roles. Agnes was married to Nicholas Renzi in 1959 and had two children Nicholas Jr. and Christopher.
For many years Agnes was a devoted volunteer having been certified by the Library of Congress as a transcriber of written material into the Braille format specializing in literature books for children in the elementary grades. She devoted twenty years to this work having enriched the lives of hundreds of blind children. She was a member of the St. Margaret Alter Rosary Society, organizer of many of the Church's turkey dinners and a teacher of religious education.
Agnes was a loving and devoted wife and mother, a giving person who focused on others before she thought about herself. She enjoyed reading and doing crewelwork. She enjoyed vacations and especially the time spent in Tucson Arizona where she and Nick had a second home for many years. Agnes accompanied Nick on many business trips and developed friendships with people who had business relationships with Nick. It was not unusual for Agnes to be the hostess for dinners at home for visitors from Pall Corporation subsidiaries in Japan and England.
Those who knew Agnes will always remember her sincere kindness and unselfish willingness to help in any situation. She will be missed but never forgotten.
Agnes is survived by her husband Nick, sons Nick Jr, Chris and grandsons Nick III and Brett and granddaughter Maren, brother Matthew Jankowski, nieces Heidi De Luca and Jill Cable and nephew David Jankowski.
Her wishes to not have calling hours will be respected. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial at Saint Mary's Church in Cortland on Wednesday February 12, at 10:30 am. Burial will be in St. Mary's cemetery. Contributions in Agnes' name may be made to the National Braille Association, 3 Townline Circle, Rochester, NY 14623-2513
