Obituary of Mariba M. Wright

"Ye are the salt of the earth," said Jesus to people who were of fundamental goodness, reliable and trustworthy. Such was Mariba M. Wright, 92, who died peacefully, surrounded by family, on March 2, 2020. They just don't come any better. Mariba was born in Oxford, New York on July 31, 1927, to Harold and Marian (Law) Money. She graduated from Norwich High School in 1944 and married the love of her life, William Wright, in 1946. In addition to being a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Mariba was active in her community. She and William served for many years on the board of the Cortland County Junior Fair. She was a 4-H leader, member of Farm Bureau, West Homer Club, and worked for many years as an election inspector in the Town of Homer. Mariba was also an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Homer, having co-chaired countless dinners, receptions and other gatherings for the Women's Fellowship. Mariba was pre-deceased by her husband William H. Wright, and sons Dennis and Donald Wright. She is survived by her son Douglas (Mary Beth) Wright of Dryden, and daughters Elizabeth (Kim) Hubbard of Homer and Barbara (Peter) Wright of Auburn, daughter-in-law Rachel Wright of Homer, Grandchildren Jason (Julie Johnson) Wright, Luke (Andrea) Wright, Mark Wright, Teresa (Jamie) Schmitt, Amanda (Lucien) Hudson, Mariah (Eric) Bonawitz and Emilia Wright, and seven great-grandchildren. Calling hours will be held on Saturday, March 14th at the Homer Congregational Church from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., followed immediately with a service in celebration of her life at 12:30 pm.
