December 6, 1963 - March 4, 2020
Kevin Birtwell, 55 of 188 Groton Ave, Cortland, NY passed away unexpectedly at Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, PA. suronded by his loving family.
He was a long time resident of cortland and the surounding areas, making Cortland his home the last 40 years. Kevin Graduated high school in 1984. Early in life her serverd in the Army National Guard for 10 years. Kevin worked at Joe's Baker where he would meet his furture wife, Karen. He was a Tractor trailer driver for more than 25 years working at different companies in surounding area, the longest at Allied Van Lines. He also was a Bus driver for a few years working at Cortland Transit and other companies. He drove cab for a while. He worked at J.M. Murry center as a Machinist and supervised people with special needs.
Kevin had many pastimes he enjoyed in his life. He had a passion for camping and avid sportsmen. Kevin like to play golf, cards, chess and enjoyed being outdoors. He had a great sence of Humor. He had a dream to travel the country in a RV.
He is procreed death by his parents Lucius Birtwell, 2004 and Karen R Birtwell in 2014, and James Birtwell a brother in 1965.
He is survied by his beloved wife Karen A. Birtwell of 32 years, and two children; A duaghter Jessica L. Birtwell and a son Matthew J. Birtwell of Cortland NY. Three brothers; John M of Auburn NY, William C (Billy) of Syracuse NY, Steven F of Rochester, NY. A sister; Marie Ronnie Phillips of Auburn, NY. Six nephews Adam Birtwell and Zach Jones, Ryan and Connor Birtwell, Roger (RJ) and his wife Amy Phillips, Christopher (Chris), Tabitha (Tab) and her husband Bryan Palmatier, and Alisha Trenton Metcalf all from the Auburn area. He also had several great nephews and niecies all from the Auburn area. Long-time Family friend, Katreena Guernsey and her Children.
Kevin was a loving father, husband, brother, uncle and son. He will be missed and never forgotten. Friends and family are invintied to a memorial service on March 13, 2020 from 3pm to 4pm at Wright-Beard Funeral Home, 9 Lincoln Ave, Cortland NY. A celebration of life will be held at Cortland Community Center , 90 Central ave , Cortland New York 13045 following the service.
In lieu of flowers; the Family has ask friends and family to make a donation in honor of Mr. Kevin A Birtwell to the American Diabetes Association.
