Dear Family,
I was so sorry to hear of the passing of Ginny. I apologize for the late reply. Ginny and I were classmates at SUNY Albany from l967-l970. Ginny was my inspiration then, especially when she participated in the Spanish Honors Program. I believe we were both students of Ruth Wasley. Ginny's laugh was so warm and her enthusiasm boundless. She lived downstairs from me in Alden Hall on the "old" campus.
Later, when Ginny came to Cortland, she was instrumental in inviting speakers to the campus for workshops and lectures. She invited me several times to present and to write articles for the journal she edited.
What a loss for academia, the teaching profession and the friends and family who loved Ginny.
QDEP, mi amiga.

I have known Ginny for at least three decades. What a great personality! She always wore an infectious smile and made you feel welcome around her. I ran into her a few days at H&R Block not knowing that it would be the last. The SUNY Cortland community can count our blessings to have had a professional of her caliber. My sincere condolences go to her family. She will be missed immeasurably!

I have known Ginny since 1983 when I started working at SUNY Cortland. She was the Assistant Dean at the time. Ginny was always so kind and compassionate and always went the extra mile for each of her students Most recently, we worked together on Commencement. It was such a pleasure working with Ginny. She was collaborative and a wonderful listener. I consider her a friend and will miss her humor, good nature, and presence. My deepest condolences to her family, friends and colleagues.

The last time I saw Ginny was, as usual, serendipitous and classic Ginny. She was between tasks, checking in with a mutual friend/colleague, happy, relaxed, yet on schedule. She made the prickly conversation run smoothly. (She always did.) She suffered the fools mentioned in the conversation gladly. (She always did.) She poured herself out, as we say, again and again and again: listening, nodding, replying--all in relaxed humor, even though she knew she would have to part company and hurry on to her next task soon. Ginny was always Service Above Self. She never let anyone know that she was rushed. When she was with you, she was with you. And I'm sorry for all of us in her wide professional and personal circle who will miss her. Her loss is immeasurable.

I'm so sorry to hear that Ginny has passed. I was fortunate enough to live in Worcester for a few years when we were kids and remember her as one of the two brilliant girls in our class. We didn't play together often, but I always considered her a friend, and I held out hope that we would one day see each other again at a class reunion. My condolences to her family and closest friends.

I I was so lucky to have Virginia as my neighbor and best friend. I fondly remember our slumber parties, giggling over our favorite members of The Beatles and imagining which one we would marry. Over the years we kept in touch. I so looked forward to her annual letter -, the latest and greatest adventures of the Levines. At our 29th High School reunion we had the distinct pleasure of meeting each other's daughters, reminiscing to them about when we were their age. I considered her a sister and cherished her so much I asked her to be the Godmother of my second son, Carl Edward. We shared so many memories together. There will never be another Ginny . She will be forever missed and never forgotten. Till we meet again, Lorna
