Morris Edward Hallstead Sr., 92, passed away March 31, 2020 at the home of his daughter Sherie in Texas. He was born on April 1, 1927, to Bernice Burvee Hallstead Albro. He was a Veteran serving in the U.S. Army During World War II. He owned his own business Cortland County Sanitation for many years. He retired from Gutchess Lumber. He was well known in Cortland, NY. He was our beloved Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather. He liked to tell jokes, chewing his tobacco, and had a great sense of humor. He always said "he wanted to live to be 100 and get shot by a jealous husband". He didn't make it, but he had a lot of love for his kids and his grandchildren. He will be missed, but never forgotten. He is survived by his Daughter Sharon B Hallstead Brown Marshall, Daughter Sherie Hallstead O'Neill (Gene), Son Morris Hallstead Jr. (Beth Nourse), Daughter Sandra Hallstead Strout (Eric Hunter), Son Michael (Judy) Hallstead, Son Melvin (Leanne) Hallstead, Son Myron (Lesa) Williams and Son Marvin Hallstead. Many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Sister Judy Williams He was preceded by his wife of 61 years Marion Conway Hallstead, Mother Bernice, Father Harold Williams, Step-Mother Bessie Williams, Mother-In-Law Caroline Conway, Daughter Sheila Hallstead Fellows, Son-In-Law Daren Brown, Daughter-In-Law Alicia Strout Hallstead, Son-In-Law Gary Strout, and grandsons Brandon and Brock Fellows, and many others. Grave side services will be held at convenience of the family. Interment will be at Glenwood Cemetery in Homer at a later date. Wright Beard Funeral Home is helping with arrangements.
