Janet Allen formerly of 36 Parker Ave., Cortland, New York, passed away on Tuesday, April 12th at the Crown Care Center. Eleanor Janet Smith was born to MaryAlice Morrison Smith and Alexander Smith on July 28, 1934. Janet married her high school sweetheart Gary Allen on July 20, 1953. Janet was a nurses aide during the Korean conflict while her husband went off to war. After the war Janet and her husband settled in Cortland. Janet was a homemaker and took great pride in raising their three sons. Janet is survived by her loving family, Gary (Anne McLorn) and Garys children Jeremy Allen, James Allen McLorn and Patrick McLorn. Steven (Becky Simpson) and Steves children Gregory Allen, Michael (Letha) Allen, Katelynn Simpson and Logan Simpson. joseph (Brenda) and Joes children joseph, Jocelyn and Christopher Allen. Special niece Midge (Dan) Grant, sister-in-laws Dorla Williams and Jane Bellardini, several nieces and nephews, as well as four great-grandchildren and loyal friends Bobbi and Ronnie Fuller. Janet was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Gary E. Allen. Sisters Marian (John) Hollister, Betty (Arthur) Wilkins and brother, Robert (Vera) Irving. Calling hours will be at Wright-Beard Funeral Home, Lincoln Ave., Cortland, NY, from 12:30 to 1:30 pm Tuesday, April 17 with funeral services and burial to follow with Father Paul Alciati officiating. Burial will be at Saint Marys Cemetery, Cortland, NY.
