Paul and Family,
I was deeply saddened to hear of Juanita's passing just yesterday in the Utica newspaper.
While we had grown apart over time, as a friend of Paul's in our earlier years and a groomsman at his wedding to Juanita, I know how much love they shared together. I also remember Juanita well as a young, bright student nurse as I worked with Paul at St. Elizabeth's hospital while they were dating.
My deepest sympathy,
John Gleason, Rome, NY

If the walls at Guthrie/CRMC/CMH could talk ....oh the wonderful stories they would tell about Juanita. I met her in the early 70's caring for her maternal grandmother, her Aunts and Mom. Juanita had a heart for all and she cared deeply. She always tried to do her best ....she will be missed. She is free of pain . She touched many lives along the way. I for one am so glad I knew her... until we meet again. Love and prayers for those she loved, her husband Paul and son James and sister Joan and her family. Fly high dear friend.

My deepest condolences to Juanita's family. You are in our thoughts and prayers. The online service was beautiful and the love you all shared with Juanita is wonderfully evident. In the hours, days and months ahead, may you experience great comfort in cherished memories and the phrases you'd expect her to say when life is just right and when life does not go as planned. My memories of Juanita are from our school days: her candy striper uniform and the delight that she had knowing she found her life's calling so early. Aside from getting together with Juanita and other Cortland High classmates in December 2018, my last vivid memory of Juanita was when we were high school seniors. We were in a classroom to take a New York State exam, although I don't recall which one. However she said to me that she was hoping to earn the nursing scholarship that would be awarded if she scored the highest and checked the box that she wanted to be considered for that scholarship. I recall saying "You can do it, Juanita" and she flashed that famous smile of hers. Guess what? She did earn that scholarship. She made a significant impact on all who knew her, patients, colleagues, friends, and of course, family. May the Lord comfort each of you and give you His Peace. Blessings, Karin

Many of us first met Juanita at St. Elizabeth School of Nursing -many decades ago. Soon after we met Juanita,we met Paul.
Ever since then we always saw them together. Many of us would meet at yearly or every 5 years Alumni Banquet in Utica. She was one of the one's that helped get as many classmates there as possible, Yes, Paul was always there too.
She is a beautiful person and is probably visiting with all her family members and friends and people who she had helped over the years up in heaven. She was welcomed with open arms by so many people before our Dear Lord got to her.
Paul ,I hope you and your family know we are sending you hugs and prayers and will continue .
Love always,

Aunt Juanita, or Aunt Neet as we called her, was a giver. This is what she’ll be remembered for the most. My fondest memories will be from our camp days, but even through my adulthood, she checked in on me with Paul. She even gave me a heads up when she was local so we could visit. I am so thankful for our chats these past months, as her positive spirit deflected the trials occurring. I am willing to accept the pain of your passing if it means that you have found peace without any. You will be sorely missed. Paul was not the only lucky one to have chosen you as his life partner. Thank you for what you brought to our lives. ❤️

I am absolutely confident that everyone who knew and loved Juanita has a broken heart right now.
Where to start....I met Juanita in almost 50 years ago when I started working @CMH. When I was first introduced to her, I saw kindness in her eyes and smile. Oh that smile, it lit any room she walked into. She was genuine and cared about her family, friends and patients with all her being. Juanita was one in a million and can never be duplicated. She was unique.
There are so many meaningful and fun experiences with Juanita I will always keep in my memories close to my heart ... our times in ICU, giving report to each other as Supervisors, lunches and trips together, her and Paul’s visit to Florida to vacation with us when I
moved here, the stories about James and Paul about how much she loved them. The last time I saw Juanita was almost 2 years ago when I came to Cortland. We had a wonderful supper together with Laura,Tane, Sandy and Paul. She was so strong, vibrant but that smile is what I’ll never forget. Who knew that was the last time I would ever see her. I planned to visit with her this summer but we all know she is in a better place right know. The last time I actually talked to her was 2 months ago when she told me her Diagnosis and what the plan was. She sounded stressed and positive but I still asked her if I could go up and help. She said in her cheerful voice... no, her house was a mess and she would be fine. That’s Juanita for you!! The last few times I tried texting/calling her and got no response, I messaged Joanie and was given the sad update that she only had a couple of days left with us. Paul and I had a long talk the day after she gained her wings. The love and friendship the two of them had was like no other. One heart/one soul.
Paul, James, Joanie, Tim and all of Juanita’s dear family and friend... although we have suffered an insurmountable loss, we have gained an angel who will look out for us as she did on earth. She may be gone but will never be forgotten. Please love each other and never take it for granted we have another day.
RIP my friend

My thoughts and prayers are with Paul, James and Joan and family. Juanita was a great nurse, wife, mom, sister, friend and co-worker. She was such a loyal employee to CRMC. We had many shift hand-offs together and with that laughs and sometimes shaking our heads with what we were hearing, seeing, being told or asked. Rest in Peace, Juanita. I'll keep the fond memories with me forever.

My deepest sympathies to Juanita's family. She was a kind, caring and wonderful nurse whom I had the privilege of working with in the ICU many years ago. My memories of her include the many car trips with her and Laura Fagan we made to Suny Utica Rome to complete our BSN. We had fun and the travel was made so easy with both of them. I especially remember stopping at a bakery before class and getting cheese danishes! Great memories. She will be missed.

Deepest condolences to the Huther family. When I knew Juanita was the supervisor scheduled for overnights, everything always turned out just fine. Never mattered how crazy it would get! She certainly was the true definition of a NURSE by always knowing what to do or say in any given situation (medical related or not). I am honored to have been one of many nurses that got to learn from her, get to know her, AND get to work with her. I always enjoyed hearing about the antics of the beagles as she enjoyed getting to hear about my trouble maker beagles also. Keep those happy memories close forever.
