Obituary of Placido J. Corpora, Sr.

Placido "Pat" Corpora, Sr. 87 of Scott NY, passed away June 28, 2020. He was born January 5, 1933 in Wilson PA, the son of the late Giuseppe & Maria Merlo Corpora .
Pat graduated from Easton High School in Easton PA. After graduation he volunteered and served in the US Navy aboard the USS Monterey Aircraft Carrier from 1950-1953 during the Korean War. After being honorably discharged he took employment with Mack Trucks in New Jersey. After working in New Jersey for several years he relocated to Cortland NY working at Brockway Trucks as the Director of Data Processing starting in 1969. After Brockway's closing he and his family then moved to Allentown PA, once again working for Mack Trucks. After retirement the family returned to the Cortland area in 1988. Locally Pat attended St. Mary's and St. Margaret's churches. In his spare time he enjoyed baking Italian cookies and skiing with his late wife Jane.
He is survived by sons Placido "Pat" (Deborah) Corpora Jr, Richard (Sandy) Corpora, Robert (Laura) Corpora, John (Janice) Corpora, Christopher (Lisa) Corpora, his daughter Pamela Corpora, his sister Maria Sedlacek, 17 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and numerous friends.
In addition to his parents, Pat was predeceased by his wife Jane Corpora, his son Nicholas Corpora, his siblings Carl and Josephine Corpora.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday 2 pm at St. Mary's Church, Cortland. We will be following the NYS guidelines regarding capacity and social distancing. Face coverings are required. Burial will follow at the Glenwood Cemetery, Homer NY. The Wright-Beard Funeral Home is serving the family.
