Obituary of Sharon Loos

Please share a memory of Sharon to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Sharon Elizabeth (Comfort) Loos was born to Leo Martin and Barbara Jane Pressure Comfort on October 26, 1946. Sharon was born and raised in the Elmira/Horseheads NY area and attended the Elmira Free Academy. Her life was influenced later by caring stepparents when her father married Marie Campbell and her mother married Elmer P (John) VanTrese. Sharon was close to her maternal Grandmother Ethel Rockwell. Sharon is survived by her identical twin Shirley Ann (Comfort) Hannon of Horseheads, NY. She is preceded in death by 4 siblings: Judith Ann Comfort, Gary Martin Comfort, Robert James Comfort, and Martin Comfort. Sharon married Robert Thomas Glave in 1964. Together they had 4 children Sharon Elizabeth, Robin Louise (Ted Roberson), Robert Thomas, and Shelley Jane (Doug Smith). In 1982 Sharon married Stanley George Heath. They had one son, Scott David (Kelly). Following the passing of Stan, Sharon met and married Thomas Richard Loos in 2016. Tom passed away in June 2019. Sharon is the grandmother of 13 grandchildren - Corey (38), Katelyn (21), Ashley (18), Ezra (16), Ivan (13), Owen (9) Michael (30), Hannah (21) Amanda (30), Tiffany (28) Scott (16), Samuel (11), Leah (10) She has 14 great grandchildren. Additionally, Sharon had a number of stepchildren and their children that she cared about. She was also the Aunt to a number of nephews and nieces. Sharon valued the friendships of many and we (her children) express our thanks to all who touched Mom's life through acts of kindness and friendship. She often repeated the expression "Make new friends and keep the old. One is silver and the other gold." She treasured her friends. A special thanks to Jen (Darwin) Stickle who gave Mom years of loving support emotionally and physically. Sharon stayed at home with children until circumstances required her to work outside of the home. She initially went to work at Cortland Crescent Corset. Following this she spent several years working in the food industry until she started working retail and worked many years at Cortland Kmart, then P&C and finally at Red Apple, eventually retiring to care for Stan. In 1993 Sharon earned her GED. An accomplishment she worked hard to obtain. She did so to be an example to her children and to fulfill a goal that satisfied a disappointment she always regretted. Sharon believed in Jesus Christ and enjoyed attending a number of congregations to worship. Sharon loved to travel, crochet, play card and board games, and socialize with friends. Her door was always open. Her legacy will live on as her children and the generations that follow continue to work hard to take care of their own needs, lift others in need, and be devoted Christians. Sharon believed in forgiving and moving on. A memorial service will be held on July 11, 2020 at Calvary Baptist Church, 6753 State Rt 281, Preble, NY. Light refreshments and social time from 12:45 – 1:15. This will be followed by a funeral service to begin sharply at 1:15 and lasting for about 40 minutes. Live stream of the service will also be available. In lieu of flowers the family requests you to do a random act of kindness today.
