Obituary of Marschelle "Shelley" Snyder

Marschelle "Shelley" Snyder, 58, of Hinman Rd., Cortland, passed away July 13, 2020 at home surrounded by her family after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Shelley was born on May 13, 1962 in Cortland, NY, the daughter of John and Suzanne Jackson of Groton, NY. Shelley graduated from Dryden High School in 1980. While in high school she earned her certification from BOCES in cosmetology and immediately went to work for Dino's Hair Salon in College town after graduation. For a few years she was a stay at home mom as her children grew up . Shelley then went on to work for the state court system, just prior to her illness she was the Senior Court Clerk for the Supreme and County Court for Tompkins County. She spent many summers traveling to Cape May, NJ for vacation, a place she deeply enjoyed. Shelley is survived by her husband of 36 years Michael P. Snyder, her daughter Desiree (Karl) Brown of Binghamton, her grandchildren; Genevieve and Hugo of Binghamton, her parents John and Suzanne Jackson, her three sisters Rhonda (John Gerace) Saulsbury of Batavia, Julie(Fred) Carpenter of Brownwood, Texas, and Cindy (John) Hawley of Vernon, NY, her mother and father-in-law John and Doris Snyder, and several aunts, uncles, nieces , nephews and cousins. Shelley was predeceased by her son, Daniel P. Snyder January 14, 2010. Calling hours for family and friends will be held on Thursday July 16 from 3:00-6:00 PM at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home, 9 Lincoln Ave, Cortland. We will be following the NYS guidelines regarding capacity and social distancing. Face coverings are required. Burial will take place in the Groton Rural Cemetery.
