Obituary of Robert Grinnell

Please share a memory of Robert to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Born at Cortland Memorial Hospital on Halloween, October 31st of 1942, to his father Seymour Grinnell and mother, Francis Grinnell-Doran. Robert Grinnell was known to friends and family more often as Bob or Uncle Bobby, to his nieces and nephews. He grew up largely in Scott, New York, and spent his childhood in upstate New York. He spoke often of his three children and told anyone who would listen that he was proud of their accomplishments and the people they had become. He is remembered fondly by his nieces and nephews as the fun uncle who always showed up looking his best. Robert worked very hard all his life, at factories like Cooper Tools in Cortland, New York, and made sure his money was well earned by using it to enjoy time off with his family. He joins his parents, Seymour and Francis, and his siblings Bill, Chuck and Lillian in passing on, and is survived by his sister Marylyn DuVall of New Jersey. He is survived by his three children, Terry Grinnell of North Carolina, Dale Grinnell of California, and Valerie Grinnell of Idaho, and his grand children, Benjamin, Paige, Amanda, and Cheyenne Grinnell, and his surrogate grandchildren Kayla Dingler and Courtney Preston. He is also survived by his daughter in laws, Kelly and Donna Grinnell, and his nieces Diane Blanchard and Donna O'Neill, and nephews Pat and Bill Grinnell. Robert Grinnell passed peacefully with medications to make him comfortable, after complications from aspiration, at Auburn Nursing and Rehab Center in Auburn, New York, in the early hours of the morning on Saturday, July 11'th. He was able to hear his daughter Valerie talking to him via speaker phone, and had his longtime friend and mother of his daughter, Nina Horner, at his side. Robert will be cremated, but due to Covid-19 complications, a memorial service will be held later in the year at Wright-Beard Funeral Home in Cortland, New York, and will be announced by the family when it is safe for everyone to attend. In lieu of flowers or gifts of condolence, the family has asked for anyone who would like to give something to the family, to donate towards Robert's memorial service, which can be donated via a GoFundMe donation account at the shortened online GoFundMe link shorturl.at/inM02.
