Obituary of Helen Leona Phelps

Helen Leona Phelps aged 95, passed away peacefully August 7th 2020 with her family by her side. She was born November 24, 1924 in Cortland NY and was a life-long resident. She received her nursing degree in 1948, and worked at the Cortland Hospital as well as many Red Cross Blood Drives. She was a life-long member of the Homer First United Methodist Church. She married Karlton S. Phelps April 2, 1948, who predeceased her in June 2001. She is survived by her three children; Dale (Mary Ann), Theresa (Lance Stryker) and K. Roy (Ann Marie); her grandchildren Aimee, Luke, Heidi, Ethan, Heather, Holly, Mary Katherine, 13 great-grandchildren, and her nephew Rev. James Laun and niece Connie. She remained close with her sister in law Elsie Wildman from Cortland. She enjoyed staying in touch with her extended family. There will be no calling hours and services are private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to; Food Bank of CNY, SPCA, or charity of your choice.
