Obituary of Carol Wood

Carol Wood, 78, left us unexpectedly on Wednesday September 2, 2020. She was raised in McGraw, NY, the daughter of Tex and Louise Merihew Albro. Carol was a hard worker, helping her first husband on a local dairy farm. She then married Jack Wood, participating in his auction business, and for a number of years, running and operating the Cincinnatus Hotel. Her own business Carol Wood Realty was well known, and in recent years she assisted at Manasse Auction Service. Carol is survived by her beloved daughters Pamela and Peggy Weishaupt. She was devoted to her grandchildren, Jacob and Hannah Jones and greatly enjoyed her visits to Nashville, TN. She is also survived by her brother Dick (Barbara) Albro, and her nieces Nicki Albro, Danielle Albro, and Kelli Yacavone, who adored their only aunt. Carol herself had many Merihew aunts, uncles, and cousins who added greatly to the happiness in her life. Carol was predeceased by her parents, her husband, and her son Ricky Weishaupt. Carol was a bright light in this world and her presence will be continually missed by all who knew her. Calling hours will be held Tuesday September 8, 2020 from 3-5 pm at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home, 9 Lincoln Ave., Cortland, NY, with Rev. Hyun Joon Kim officiating. Interment will be held Thursday September 10, 2020 at 2pm at the Marathon Cemetery. We will be following the NYS guidelines regarding capacity and social distancing. Face coverings are required.
