I shared music with Barb on many occasions when our churches participated in events in the community. I also worked with her for the Cultural Council of Cortland County on the summer Arts and Wine Fest for several years. I gave Toni some organ lessons way back when---and I think Barb too at one point. As the organist at United Presbyterian Church, I know whereof I speak when I say that her 25 years as music director at St. Mary's was really worth FIFTY years because she did both the organist and choir director job. I find half of that quite enough for one person---a fact I shared with her quite firmly! I will miss her. She set a good example for us all.

...and another era has passed ---
Despite what the papers say about her supposed 'age,'
that lady STILL 'had a lot of livin' to do' !!
Devoted Wife, Mom, Music Teacher at Elementary & HS levels,
Music Teacher at St. Mary's, and of course Queen of St. Mary's
Choirloft for a glorious 1/4 century !!
Sensational outreach to our Protestant 'brethren and
sistren" in town, and indefatigable recruiter and promoter
of singers of all ages, types, and abilities for that
1/4 century, before, and beyond ---
She is missed already ---
I have talked to Fr. Joe about what we could do at the
Funeral Mass, and he has confirmed that we must
still follow the diocesan guidelines ---
We may also plan either a Memorial Mass or concert in
her honor in the future, once Covid has passed, depending
on the OK and availability of her sons & Toni's husband ---
We may also definitely consider a scholarship in her name
over at SMS --- I believe that they are already accepting
donations for the Music program over there in her name ---
Any other good ideas ??
Let's keep Nick, Joseph, their wives, Tim Diem, Bill & Diane,
and all of the grandchildren in our prayers ---
Barb and Nick ? We know where they are ---
Kicking their heels up together in the stars !
We'll see you all soon --- 'from a distance !'

Our family loved getting together with the Pauldine family and we were so lucky to have them in our lives. Mrs. Pauldine was always caring, giving and interested to hear what everyone was doing. She played the organ most beautifully at our wedding and we were grateful to call Mrs. Pauldine and the family our friends. Much love to Nick and Joe.

Barbara is one of the most important people in my life. She was always respectful and accepting of everyone, no matter how challenging that was. My most vivid memory of her is the night she comforted a distraught choir member after a rehearsal. She literally held the woman in her arms in the exact position as Michelangelo's Pieta. That memory still chokes me up.
Having moved away two years ago, I am so grateful I got to have a wonderful phone conversation with her about a month ago -- ever the same Barbara, spirited as ever.
My condolences to all of her family and friends!

Barb was such an influence to my life as a young musican and well into my career as a music educator. She always embodied an enthusiasm and joy that inspired many musicians both young and old. I'm proud to carry on her legacy and will always aim to make her proud!
