Having just learned of Roland's passing, I send my condolences to his family. I had the privilege of assisting Roland while working in N VA in the 1990s. I enjoyed numerous conversations with Roland and Barbara and was able to help with the garden and home on several occasions when they traveled. Two of my favorite memories are seeing Roland and Barbara immediately following their trip to Yosemite and hearing all about what they enjoyed there. My other favorite memory was sitting at a SF Giants baseball game with Roland and hearing him talk about his early days in Cortland and with Barbara.
