Obituary of Mary E. Young

Mary Young 84 of Groton, passed away on September 16, 2020 at Guthrie Cortland Regional Medical Center. Mary was born February 21, 1936 in Gilsum,NH. Mary had been a long time resident of Cortland & Groton. Mary has several friends in the Cortland community. Mary worked for Cortland County DSS for 21 years. Retiring in 1996. Her best job was caring for her great grandson Austin. She was so proud to be a great grandmother. She loved playing Bingo, country music, going shopping and spending winter in Florida. She loved the Christmas dinner with her family before leaving in December. Mary is survived by a daughter, Marie (Jim) Busby of Groton, son Theodore (Ted) Chamberlin & Lois (Ehrlich) of Locke, sister Frances of NH, sister in law Gina Chamberlin of Agawam, MA, granddaughters Christy (Bill) Newton II, Lansing, NY, Kimberly (Clayton) Skinner of Groton,NY. Patrick Stinehour of Groton, NY. Daughter in law Janet Chamberlin (Ga.) The best part of her life are great grandchildren Austin & Dillon Skinner, William Newton III & Madison Newton. So proud of all of them. Nieces are Gwen (David) Labonte, Springfield, MA, Tina (Mike) Tessier of Florida, Nephews Fred (Buster) Lisa Chamberlin of Alabama & Todd Chamberlin of Agawam, MA. Susan Chamberlin (niece) Mary was predeceased by her mother Agnes Robichaud, brothers Fred, Morton (Butch) Chamberlin, Ernest Stinehour (S.O.) I would like to thank RN's Lisa Cortright, Angie Peebles and Hallie Neville (at CMC) for the nursing care throughout her time at Cedar Run. I am deeply pleased at the day to day care for my mom from the CNA's Stacy & Dayna West, Rachel, Kaitlyn and Ashley. They have gone above and beyond anyone could ask. I thank you from the bottom of my heart. Lastly the woman that held me together, Ms. Conni Bentley, friend, mediator, my sound board and all around Angel for me in time of need. Thank you.
