Ron Denniston had a banking career literally of several generations, seeing banks pre-printed checks to ATMs, and having few branches to having many...and large ones running many, frequently beyond regional and state lines. Ron was a visionary, shown by his probably defensive purchase of what became a second branch in Dryden to branches in Cortlandville, and recently, also Homer. As a banker he was visual, both in his bank buildings and the greater communities he served. At Dryden's Southworth Library he was instrumental for many years...in rural and occasional political matters active. Many in agriculture recall the Rural-Urban Days Cortland Rotary long held, and in which Ron played leading roles.
He was also gracious and kind, known for handwritten notes to friends and acquaintances when tragedy hit their families--this I know from first hand experience.
Ron will be remembered, and surely the communities he and his bank served became better places because of his many years of dedicated, caring service.

David, Brenda, Uncle Bob and family. I have known your father and both of you over many years when Uncle Bob allowed me to hunt with him and your dad on the farm. I have lost track of how many years ago and the wonderful times we had there. I will cherish the memories and extend my deepest sympathies.

Ron was very kind and patient with a young, inexperienced reporter for the Dryden Rural News in the mid-1970s. He took the time to explain both municipal government and the intricacies of hometown banking.
