Patricia B. Kennedy Obituary Patricia B. (Bishop) Kennedy, a resident of Whitney Point, NY passed away peacefully at the age of 82 years. Pat was born February 11, 1938 in Tupper Lake, NY to Leonard J. Bishop and Lucy M. (Miner) Bishop. She was one of nine children. She grew up and attended Tupper Lake schools and met her life partner Miles Walter Kennedy (Joe), marrying him on June 20, 1955. Pat began her work career long before marriage, working odd jobs as a teenager in Tupper Lake. She enjoyed cleaning the cabins and sleeping quarters for the lumberjacks. She also tended bar at a local hotel. After marriage, family and job opportunities brought her to Massachusetts briefly and then back to NY, finally settling in Homer, NY. She spent 20 years working at Smith Corona Corporation building typewriters. With the closing of Smith Corona, Pat returned to Tupper Lake, NY. From there, she worked at Mercy Healthcare for a year, and finally worked for the State of New York at Sunmount DDSO where she retired in 2000. After the passing of her husband in 2006, she remained living in her home with her sister until 2016 where they both moved downstate with Pats eldest son in the Cortland/Whitney Point area. Although a petite woman, Pat had a big personality, never afraid to speak her mind. She loved being of service to people, always trying to help someone out. She was protective of her children and family and loved spending time with them. Many memories were made camping in the Adirondacks throughout the years. Pat loved and enjoyed cooking, knitting and gardening. But her greatest love of all was music. She learned to play acoustic guitar at a young age and discovered she had a voice to go along with it. Many gatherings took place over the years with memories of family and friends sitting around singing and making music. She was once asked to go to Nashville by a scout in a local establishment. She declined in order to stay with her family. Pat is predeceased by her parents, husband, and four siblings (Leonard Bishop Jr., Norman Bishop, Bernice Vieu, and Norma Walrad). She is survived by her four children (Lynn M. Soucy, Kevin L. Kennedy, Michael J. Kennedy, and Robert C. Kennedy), four siblings (Evelyn Heath, Jim Bishop, Donald Bishop, and Allan Bishop), ten grandchildren, and numerous great grandchildren. Pat will be laid to rest next to her husband at Holy Name Cemetery in Tupper Lake, NY. There will be a graveside service to be announced at a later date.
