Obituary of Gerry Ahrens

Gerry (Gerritje) Ahrens Gerry Ahrens passed away peacefully in her home of 62 years on January 4, 2021 with her loving family by her side. Gerry was born on August 28, 1925 in Putten Netherlands to Willem Termaat and Aalje Beijnen Termaat. Gerry was married to the love of her life Jan Ahrens on November 18, 1949 who she had met in grade school. In January 1950 they moved to Tully NY before moving to Cortland in 1958. Gerry is survived by her husband Jan, her daughter Willy Ahrens of Cortland and her son John Ahrens of Virgil. Other survivors include her brother Willem (Maasje) Termaat of Putten, Netherlands, inlaws Willy (Al) Arnold of Cortland, Johannes (Barb) Ahrens of Spencerport NY, Jannie (Stephen) von't Slot of Ermelo Netherlands. Gerry was predeceased by her parents and four sisters and 2 brothers. In recent years Gerry had been in failing health. Her family would like to thank HCR and Hospice for their help so she could remain in her home. Gerry's favorite place was the enclosed front porch where she enjoyed many hours checking out what was going on in the neighborhood. Any services will be private at a later time.
