Robert VanMarter, 71, of Homer, NY passed away on Tuesday February 16, 2021. He was born on September 20, 1949 in Elmira, NY the son of the late Norman J. and Margarite VanMarter.
Robert was a proud longtime member of the Disabled American Veteran's club. He enjoyed watching westerns and fishing with his grandson.
He is survived by his son Kevin VanMarter, his daughter Shannon Edwards, and his grandchildren Morgan Edwards, Zachary Edwards, and Peyton Shingler.
Robert is predeceased by his wife Eileen VanMarter and his brother David VanMarter.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday March 3, 2021 from 4-6pm at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home, 9 Lincoln Ave. Cortland NY, with a funeral service to follow at 6. Carl Lyman is officiating. We will be following all NYS guidelines regarding social distancing and capacity. Masks are required. The funeral service will be live streamed at https://www.hdezwebcast.com/show/robert-vanmarter at 6pm. Interment will be held on Friday March 5, 2021 at 10:30pam at the St. Mary's Cemetery.
