Maynard Cottom Jr., 100, formerly of Locke passed away March 9, 2021 at Crown Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation. He was born January 30, 1921 in Pueblo CO, the son of the late Maynard and Inez DeLaughter Cottom Sr.. Maynard was a longtime resident of the area graduating from Cortland High School in 1939. He then went on to serve with the US Navy during WWII and was honorably discharged. He was a carpenter by trade working with the Cortland Carpenter's Union. His past memberships included the DAV, Cortland VFW where he served as commander and vice commander, Homer Fire Dept., Homer Elk's, Cortland Moose Lodge, and Groton American Legion. He is survived by his children Kenneth (Maureen) Cottom and Laura (Tim Francis) Call, ten grandchildren Christine Cottom, Abbygayle Fowler, Benjamin Cottom, Heidi Adams, Sherry Timmons, Susan Recor, Staci Snyder, Joseph Call, Kelly Aylesworth, Kimberley Neil,great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Maynard was predeceased by his parents Maynard and Inez, his daughter Sheralyn "Sherry" Wasley, and his siblings Services will be private at the convenience of the family.
