Obituary of Mark Mason
Please share a memory of Mark to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Mark Mason, 73, of McGraw, passed away on April 20, 2021, surrounded by family and loved ones.
Mark was born on April 9, 1948 in Cortland NY. After graduating from Marathon High School, he joined the Air Force in 1967, where he served as a weapons specialist, served in Vietnam and was honorably discharged in 1971 at the rank of Sergeant. Mark was then employed by the New York State Department of Transportation for 30 years.
Retirement allowed Mark to pursue the hobbies that he loved most: hunting, fishing and being outdoors. Mark had such an infectious laugh, that even if you didn’t know what was funny, you would end up laughing right along with him. He was a positive, accepting man who touched the lives of many people and will be greatly missed.
He is pre-deceased by his parents, Gordon Mason and Doris Brown, his brother, Paul Mason, his first wife, Rosalie Mason and later girlfriend, Gwen Foster.
Mark is survived by his daughter, Debbie Mason (Laurie Begendorf), his son, Daniel Mason (Stephanie), his granddaughters, Brittany Moser and Alli Mason, his great-grandson, Brooks Barber, his sister Gail King and his beloved cat and constant companion, Eddy.
The family would like to express their love and sincere appreciation to Steve and Sue Dellow and Roland Robinson, who selflessly gave up their time to support and help Mark when he needed it most.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 24th at Wright-Beard Funeral Home 2:00-4:00pm.
