Obituary of Jackie Rumsey

Jackie Rumsey Velma June 'Jackie' Rumsey 55 went to be with the angels on Saturday April 24, 2021 after a hard-fought battle. She was born on July 1, 1965 in Cortland NY and was proud to be a life-long resident of Blodgett Mills NY. Jackie was predeceased by her father John Richard Rumsey in December 1965 and Velma Beatrice Langdon Rumsey in February 2011. Surviving are her true love Barry Bruce, Blodgett Mills NY, sister Corine and Charlie Gates, Tully NY, Chuck Gates, Kirkville NY and Sara Bliss, Jake and Cody Bliss, Tully NY. Survived by Christine Ross Bell (Ray) sisters Tracie Virgadamo Thomas, Tully NY and Kelly Virgadamo Flores, Colorado Springs CO. Survived by Mat and Amber Gee, Glen Aubrey NY and grandchildren Tyler and Riley. Also survived by other nieces and nephews. After graduating High School from the McGraw School District, Jackie loved studying collegiately and has earned a BA in Anthropology from SUNY Cortland. She also has earned an AAS in Equine Studies/Stable and Farm Mgmt from Cazenovia College. Jackie had worked toward her Masters Degree in Forensic Anthropology ar SUNY Binghamton and has also studied at the University of Toronto and American University of Cairo Egypt. Jackie has been proud to work at the ARC of Madison Cortland since 1993. She had held several positions over the years and was extremely pleased to become the Agency Trainer. This was her dream job, working to provide quality training for others, working alongside John Phillips and Aaron Hammond in Cortland. Jackie was a voracious reader and greatly enjoyed watching movies. She enjoyed travel and was always thrilled to meet new friends. For most of her life she has loved showing horses and was active in AQHA and NYPEA. Among other accomplishments and talents, Jackie was an avid lover of animals and will be greatly missed by Scooter, Cooper and Chloe. Calling hours will be at Wright-Beard Funeral Home, 9 Lincoln Ave, Cortland NY 13045 on Saturday May 1, 2021. Interment will be at a later date.
