Obituary of David M. Kelly

David Kelly died on Wednesday, May 26, 2021, at Guthrie Cortland Regional Nursing Home, after a long illness. He was 72. He was born in Troy, NY on September 29, 1948 to Frank and Lorraine (Tallman) Kelly. He graduated from Cohoes High School and attended Syracuse University and SUNY Albany, before accepting a position with New York State, where he worked in Information Technology for various departments until he retired in 2004 after suffering a stroke. He was an active member of C.S.E.A. David's interests included: music, reading, food, chess and backgammon. He was an accomplished chess player and student of history and politics. David loved cats, adopting several over the course of his life. He was a shy person but cared deeply about people and found creative ways to help others. David was pre-deceased by his parents and stepmother. He is survived by his brothers Frank (Sandra Holland) and Keith (Susan Emptage), nieces Erin Kelly (Kevin McGraw) and Sara Kelly, his great-niece Anna McGraw and great-nephews Owen and Emmet McGraw.
