Richard A. Baldwin, 75, of Sempronius, NY, passed away on June 2, 2021. Born July 20, 1945 in Cortland, NY to Alton and Doris Baldwin, Dick was a graduate of Homer High School, and went on to earn his teaching degree from SUNY Oswego. Dick started his teaching career in Industrial Arts in 1967 with Fabius Pompey School. Dick, a Vietnam veteran, was drafted into the Army in 1968. After completing his military service, he went back to Fabius Pompey School and taught for many years. Dick was a voracious reader, a history enthusiast, and an avid outdoorsman. He was also a skilled carpenter, and master woodworker. He could skillfully create almost anything from wood, but was known especially for the beauty and artistic quality of his turned bowls. Dick is survived by his sisters; Susan Meriwether, and Merri Baldwin, both of Homer, NY, as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is predeceased by his parents, and a sister, Bonnie Searles. Calling hours will be Thursday June 17th from 4pm-6pm at Wright-Beard Funeral Home Cortland, NY. Services will be held at a later date. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to Dick's closest friends, and neighbors for their concern and support.
