Obituary of Charles McLyman

"Charles "Mac" Henry McLyman (born April 18, 1927), a native of Cortland, New York and longterm resident of Sun City Center, Florida, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, August 25, 2020 at the age of 93."
Charles was predeceased by his wife, Marilyn S. McLyman. She was the absolute love of his life, and they were happily married for 62 years at the time of her passing in the spring of 2013. Charles was also the beloved father of five adult children, Edward (Kim) McLyman, Linda (Daniel) Leete-McLyman, Judith Dempsey, Kathleen (Kevin) Isham, and Stephen (Jodi) McLyman. He is survived by ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Everything Charles did was for his family and his community. He was deeply adored and will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Charles had a love for people, a great sense of humor, and the true gift of warm connection. Throughout his life, he was a friend to many and an active member in his community. Charles was a long-time parishioner at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Cortland and Prince of Peace Catholic Church near his home in Florida. He was an active member of the Cortland Elks Club, serving in the leadership position of Exalted Ruler. Charles also served on active duty for the U.S. Navy and was a member of the local Democratic Party.
A memorial service will be held in honor of Charles McLyman on Sept. 18, 2021 at St. Mary's Church in Cortland at 10:00 am. Memorial donations can be made in the name of Charles H. McLyman to St. Mary's Catholic Church, 59 North Main St., Cortland, N.Y. 13045.
