Dawn C. Horner March 19, 1944-August 23rd 2021
Dawn Currie Horner was born on March 19, 1944 on the shirt-tails of her fathers 29th birthday. She was the daughter of the late James L. Currie Sr and Constance Phillips Currie.
She grew up in Truxton and Graduated from Truxton High School in 1963. She was very active in Band, Chorus, and Cheerleading. Dawn was also a member of the Methodist church and enjoyed being in the choir. She loved her hometown and the close-knit friends she had growing up. She always talked of the monthly lunches with her classmates.
In recent years she was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Dryden where she also enjoyed singing in the Choir and making new friends.
She worked at Crescent Corset, NCC and Foundations. After they closed, she worked at ASC Bistro at SUNY Cortland where she retired in 2020 when her cancer diagnosis no longer allowed her to work.
She is survived by her daughter Cheryl (Robert) Chapman of Moravia, son Thomas Horner of Cortland. Six grandchildren Jason (Kristi) Phillips of Bessemer City, NC., Bo (Jon) Chapman, Christopher and Mark Chapman of Moravia. Timothy and Charmaine Horner of Cortland. Also, a niece and several nephews. Many Cousins including her closest one Betty Rainbow who was always there just to talk or listen.
She was predeceased by her brother James L. Currie, Jr. Her Sisters in laws Rosemary O'Conner & Carol Montesano Currie. A son, Timothy who died at birth and her former husband Roger of Florida.
She would also like to thank Brenda Twomey and Deborah Wherry for all their help and care over the last year.
Calling hours will be Saturday September 4, 2021 at 11 am-12:45 pm with a funeral service to begin 1 pm at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home Inc., 9 Lincoln Ave., Cortland NY, 13045. Burial to follow at the Elmwood Cemetery, Preble NY.
