Richard R Harris – 55 former McGraw Resident, passed away due to COVID on August 24th 2021 in Jacksonville, North Carolina. Richard was born June 30, 1966 in Pensacola Fl to Helen (Boone) Smith and Joseph Harris. Richard graduated from McGraw School in 1985 and enlisted into the Marine Corps right after graduation and retiring as a E7 Gunnery Sergeant. Richard leaves behind a wife Lynette, daughter and son-in-law Kelsey & Kyle Kaczynski. Father Joseph Harris, mother Helen Smith, Brothers Gregory (Dana) Smith, Donald Jr (Zenta) Smith, Stacy (Tonya) Harris sister Donnell Smith, nephews Alan and Eric Smith, nieces Haley and Harley Smith, a very special Aunt Fran Odom and many other special relatives and long-time friends he considered family. Richard is pre-deceased by his step-father Donald Smith Sr. and most recently a very special Aunt Gladys Weeks. A graveside service is planned at 10:00am on Wednesday September 1, 2021 at Coastal Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville with Military Honors. In honor of Richards long and strong dedication to the US Marine Corps. Family has created the Richard Ryan Harris Military Scholarship Award to be given to a graduating student enlisting in the Military (all branches) for McGraw Central School.
