Obituary of Gertrude M. Bacheller

Gertrude M. Bacheller, 97, of Homer, went to be with the Lord September 11, 2021 with family by her side. She was born April 28, 1924 in Summerhill NY, the daughter of the late Edward and Hila Smith Gillette. Gertrude was raised on her family's farm and educated locally graduating from the Homer Academy. She graduated from Baptist Bible Seminary in 1946. After Seminary, she served as a missionary in West Virginia and after marriage, they served in Tennessee. Locally she was a faithful member of the Dresserville Bible Baptist Church. Gertrude was always happy to go visit family and friends. She enjoyed baking, reading, studying and memorizing scripture. She liked learning about community history and helped document her own family history. She is survived by her four sons; William (Kathryn) Jr., Charles, Timothy (Lillian), Philip (Cindy), her two daughters; Sharon (Dean) Adams, Carol (Doug) Gridley, Nineteen grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her parents, Gertrude was pre deceased by her husband William "Bill" Bacheller, Sr., a grandson, a great grandson, and her siblings Joseph and Gordon Gillette, Dorothy Owen and Ruth Russell. Calling hours will be held Friday 4-6 pm at the Wright-Beard Funeral home Inc., 9 Lincoln Ave., Cortland NY, 13045. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Saturday September 18, 2021 at the Dresserville Bible Baptist Church with Rev. Thomas Rofe presiding.
