Betty L. McLaughlin, 88, of Cortland, NY, passed away Wednesday, January 25, 2012, at Cortland Regional Medical Center.
The only daughter of the late Clarence and Bessie Bush of Cortland was married to the late Paul H. McLaughlin, April 19, 1942.
Betty left us after a very hard fight with lung problems over the past year and many other operations over the past 20 years.
Early on, she worked for the Bendix Corp. in Sydney, NY during World War II. After that, she worked in the Cortland City Clerks Office, with the Thompson Boat Company in Cortland and eventually at SUNY €“Cortland, NY, in the Teaching Materials Center and the College Library.
Over the years she had been active in many groups and associations such as YOL-RE, Kings Daughters, Red Hat Ladies Society, Church Lunch-Bunch and many more. She and Paul also enjoyed camping and traveling in their retirement and especially going on many trips with Willa-Mae and friends, to such places as Hawaii and Branson, MO.!
Betty was predeceased by her parents, Clarence and Bessie Bush, her loving Husband, Paul, her Daughter, Sharon Richards, and many family members from the Cortland and Cincinnatus areas. Surviving her are her immediate family, Son, Nolan E. McLaughlin, Grandson, Patrick J. Richards, Jr. (Shawn),two grandchildren, Noah and Chloe, a Son-in- law, Patrick Richards, Sr.(all of Webster, NY), another Grandson, Kevin C. McLaughlin (Alison), two grandchildren, Emma and Holden,(all from Beaverdam, VA) and many, many relatives, including Joan (Loope) Sleight (Ronald and family), from Port Ewen, NY, Harland Pudney (Mary Lou and family), from Solon Pond, NY, Christine (Pudney) Harrington of Arizona, Martha Gillette, from Homer, NY, Lavonia French from the Syracuse area and many others!
She has been a loving Christian wife, mother, grand-mother, great-grandmother and dedicated friend all her life to so many and she will be deeply missed! Our Heavenly Father will now have her in his hands. May she rest in peace and be reunited with her loved ones who have gone before her!
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 am Thursday at the Wrightr-Beard Funeral Home 9 Lincoln Ave. withthe Reverend Allen J. Ferguson officiating , intermentwill follow in Taylor Cemetery.
Friends are invited to call Wednesday from 4-7 pm at the funeral home .

Betty was a friend to so many people. I cherished her friendship and missed her when I moved to Ballston Spa. I did enjoy visits with her when I returned to Cortland. My thoughts and prayers are with you all,
