Irene Penrose, 88, of Homer, passed away on October 5, 2021. She was born on September 23, 1933 to her parents, Harry MacLean and Mabel Countryman MacLean. Irene was active with The Marathon Methodist Church. She enjoyed camping with her club, watching the birds on her patio, and completing puzzle books. She worked at Pall Trinity, Marathon Central Schools, and Bear’s Place, where she was known for her cooking. She made so many friends at the places she worked. Irene was a great mother and loved her family and friends. She is survived by her children, Renee Hollenbeck, Debra (John) Bennett, Randy Pratt, Joyce (Bill Morse) Burk, and Brian (Kelly) Breslin; her grandchildren Kevin and Chad (Brandi) Sherman, Tracy and Brian (Brandi) Hollenbeck, Kristina (Shane) Bartholomew, Brandy Lyman, Dexter Pratt, Thomas “Tommy” Jr. and Shane Burk, Paytreona Breslin and Duncan Boyce; as well as several great-grandchildren. Irene was also blessed with many close friends. Irene was predeceased by her Husband Robert Penrose, her daughter Sherri Breslin, son Mark Pratt, and son-in-law Robert “Jiggs” Hollenbeck. Calling hours will be held on Friday from 12pm to 1:45pm at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home, Inc. A service will take place at the funeral home at 2pm.
