Michael P. McGuire ,79 of Cortland, NY passed away on October 11, 2021. Mike was born November 30, 1941 the son of the late Joseph and Audrey Wallace McGuire. On October 9th Mike and his wife Jo-Ann (Mahar) celebrated 56 years of marriage. He is also survived by his daughters Kim (Mark) Reitano and Missy (Scott) Keep along with grandchildren Jake and Kendall Keep. He leaves behind a sister Colleen Ostrander, several nieces and nephews, many close friends and his loyal canine companion Maddie. He was predeceased by his parents, his sister Patricia Fox and brother Joseph McGuire. Mike served in the US Navy. He then worked for Cortland Savings Bank before retiring from Niagara Mohawk after 28 years. He also worked for Solvent Savers and most recently Meals on Wheels of Cortland County. Mike was a lifetime member and past exalted ruler of the Cortland Elks Lodge #748. He spent many hours there volunteering for numerous events including 20 years of pancake breakfasts benefiting Cortland County youth programs. Services will be held Thursday October 14th from 4:00-6:00 at the Wright Beard Funeral Home. There will be a gathering at the Cortland Elk's Lodge with light refreshments immediately following. Memorial donations may be made to the Cortland Elks Lodge #748, 9 Groton Ave., Cortland, NY, Area Agency on Aging C/O Meals on Wheels 60 Central Ave. or The Cortland County SPCA 879 McLean Rd., Cortland, NY.
