Mel was my daughter's guitar teacher when she was a teenager many years ago. He was a great teacher - patient and kind. I always enjoyed our conversations when I came by to pick her up. I was sorry to hear about his passing, as was Emily. Please know that we are thinking of your family. Karen Knauerhase

We were sad to hear of Mel's passing. It has been too long since we saw him. We were just talking about him recently. May you take comfort in your memories and the friends and family that surround you. Sincerely Jody & Jeanette Keith

Rest in peace, Mel. Although it's been well over a decade since I've taken bass/guitar lessons from you, I still use what you taught me every day. I wish I could thank you in person.

So sorry for your loss! Mel and I were good friends in school. We just recently met up last month at our class reunion, we had a good time reminiscing of old times and past adventures. He will truly be missed! Rest In Peace Mel! Fred Jr. and Connie Compagni

I decided to take up an instrument at 56+ years, I chose the banjo. The first few lessons Melvyn gave me I kept apologizing I felt I was torturing him with by lack of competence. Melvyn basically said Richard calm down, we’ve all been there and he said he loves teaching. Melvyn made me so at ease I also took guitar lessons with him and considered him a friend. I now love playing the instruments every day. If it hadn’t been for Melvyn being available and making me feel comfortable taking lessons I would have never experience the joy he’s given me. I was hoping that one day I could meet up with him and show him my progress and what he has given me. RIP Mel.

My condolences to Mel's family. I only met Mel two or three years ago but considered him a friend. I will miss hearing his guitar next door and will especially miss Mel and his "garage band". RIP Mel.

My condolences to the family. Melvyn was an amazing guitar instructor. I had the opportunity to see his talents every Tuesday for 4 years and after he would come by my work on holidays just to check in or bring me alittle present. He was a kind person. I will never forget the impact he had on my life. RIP.
