In remembrance of this sweet woman with eyes so blue, you could fall into them and start swimming.
Eleanore Chew was one of my Mom’s oldest friends. I loved her all the years of my growing up in Cortland and Tully, NY, and into adulthood.
She was a superb, meticulous seamstress. I remember her elegant hands spread out over a piece of fabric, smoothing it as it slipped through her Singer Sewing Machine. Eleanore’s hair was always perfectly coiffed! Always. My dad teased her incessantly, “Wait! We have to be careful of Eleanore’s do,” when she rode in the back seat of our white Buick convertible. On camping trips to Canada and the Adirondack Mountains, we had to heat water over the campfire so Alnore (as I called her) could wash her hair, roll it in those horrible scratchy curlers, and let it air dry in campfire smoke…to perfection.
Another of the Greatest Generation gone.
My hugs and prayers to Steve and Pam and their families.

Eleanor Chew was my aunt. She was a lovely person who will be missed by all who knew her. Both of my parents were very fond of her. I was too. God Bless.
