Obituary of William D. Drake

William D. Drake Sr., 63 of McLean, NY passed away unexpectedly October 16, 2021. He was the son of the late Stewart Drake Sr. and Ellene Drake. He was a 1976 graduate of Dryden High School and worked at many farm jobs, Wilson Sporting Goods and Chappell's Department Store before settling into a 36-year career with the local Cable Company (Sammons, Time Warner and Spectrum). Upon retirement in 2018 he spent more time enjoying his grandchildren, being outside, fishing and hunting. He was a talented craftsman always busy tinkering around in his garage and shop. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend who will be sorely missed by everyone. He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Dariele Drake; son, William (Kendra) Drake Jr.; daughter, Blair Drake and her fiancé, Matthew Hinman; sister, Sherry Kastler and grandchildren, Kennessy, William III and Annalyce Drake. Also surviving are his uncle, Tom (Diana) Drake; aunts, Sharon Coffin and Kay Drake, along with several cousins, nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, William was predeceased by his brother, Stewart Drake Jr. and sister, Velvet Drake. Calling hours will be held at Wright-Beard Funeral Home on Friday October 22, 2021 from 4:00-5:45 PM with a memorial service immediately following at 6 PM at the funeral home, 9 Lincoln Ave., Cortland, NY.
