Carlene B. Kelley, 97, of Cortland passed away peacefully November 7, 2021 at the Cayuga Medical Center, Ithaca NY. She was born May 25, 1924 in Cortland NY, to the late William and Bertha Bacon Bunney. Carlene was a lifelong resident of the area. She had been employed as a crossing guard at Cortland High School in the 1960s, then, as a payroll clerk with Brewer Titchener Corp. for over twenty five years. She was a member of the RSVP, Order of the Amaranth, and the Red Hat Society. She enjoyed breakfast at the Cortland Senior Center, shuffleboarding, quilting, knitting and volunteered with the Red Cross and Cortland Repertory Theatre. She is survived by two sons. Her son Jack (Suzanne) Kelley; their family: granddaughter Katie (Brian) Griffin, great grandson Henry, grandson Jack (Melissa) Kelley, great grandchildren Reid and Izzy, granddaughter Polly (Matt Thornton) great grandchildren Aly and Max, grandson in law Steve (Erika) Sellars, great grandsons Aiden and Asher. Her son Tom (Betsy) Kelley; and their family: granddaughter Jennifer Kelley, grandson Sean (Caitlin) Kelley, great grandchildren Eden and Arie, grandson Keith (Monica) Kelley, great grandchildren Connor and Caitlyn. In addition to her parents, Carlene was predeceased by her husband of 62 years, John "Jack" Kelley and her granddaughter Amanda Sellars. A private funeral service will be held at the United Presbyterian Church of Cortland. Burial will be at the Cortland Rural Cemetery. Contributions may be made to the Cortland SPCA, 879 McLean Rd., Cortland NY, 13045.
