Obituary of Michael Yacono

Michael James Yacono, age 60, of Cortland N.Y, passed away on November 6, 2021 in Philadelphia PA. Michael was born to Joseph J. Yacono Jr. and Sally Brown Yacono in Cortland, on October 16, 1961. Michael was a resident of Homer IRA for most of his adult life, until moving to the Cortland Starr Road IRA in 2019. Michael had many friends at both homes and was known to have a laid back personality and a wonderful sense of humor. Michael regularly attended Homer Methodist Church and was well known throughout Cortland for his "fist bumps" when greeting friends. Michael worked many years at the JM Murray Work Center and had many friends there. Michael is survived by many loving family members including his uncle James Yacano, brothers Mark (Christy) Yacano, Matt Yacano, William Yacano, sisters Terri (Rick) DeVincenzo and Lisa (Chad) Harrison, as well as nephews Marc DeVincenzo, Colin DeVincenzo, Neal DeVincenzo, Joseph (Morgan) Yacano, and niece Samantha Yacano, as well as several cousins. The staff and residents of the Homer IRA, Starr Road IRA, and the JM Murray Center were an integral part of Michael's life and were very much a part of Michael's family. Michael will be missed by the many people who knew and cared for him within the Cortland community. Services will be held in Cortland at a later date.
