George W. Dafoe, 65 of Cortland went to be with the lord on November 14, 2021 at Cayuga Medical Center. He was born on April 2, 1956 in Massena, NY a son of the late George and Jean Patnode Dafoe. George was a General Foreman for IBEW 1249. He enjoyed spending time with his family and the great outdoors. George was a loving father, brother and husband. George was inducted into Local 1249 in 1977 where he worked right up until his retirement in 2016. George enjoyed his retirement and loved camping with his buddies, he also enjoyed going to the DAV to play his pull tabs or just sitting in his garage (man cave) to watch the news. George is survived by his wife, Shelley Dafoe, his son, George Dafoe,, four sisters, Brenda Dafoe, Debbie Dafoe, Diane Dafoe, Ellen Krueger, two grandchildren, Charlotte and George Dafoe, whom he loved very much and several nieces and nephews. George was predeceased by his two sisters, Karen and Kathleen Dafoe. Calling hours will be 3-6 PM Friday, December 3 at Wright-Beard Funeral Home, Inc., 9 Lincoln Ave, Cortland. A mass of Christian burial will be held 10:30 Saturday, December 4, at St. Mary's Church, 59 N. Main St., Cortland followed by burial in St. Mary's Cemetery, Cortland. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
