Obituary of Tony J. Hutchings

Tony J. Hutchings, 60, passed away unexpectedly November 16, 2021. Tony was born October 25, 1961 in Cortland. Tony was a lifelong resident of Cortland, He was a popular Cab driver for many years and that is how he grew to know and love so many people in our community. Tony was one of a Kind with a personality larger than life. He never met a stranger, never met a rule he couldn't break, a boundary he couldn't push, a line he couldn't cross and a story he couldn't stretch. He would give the shirt off his back to help anyone in need. He was known for his huge smile, big hugs, hearty laugh, jolly demeanor and story telling jokes that brightened your day. Tony was a loving, caring and giving man that is loved by so many. Tony enjoyed hunting, golfing, going for rides and He loved and lived for special time with his family and friends attending every event possible. He is survived by his wife Carlene Hutchings, his daughters Jessica (Mike) Mershon, Sarah (Kris Burr) Hutchings, Hailey (Alex Velazquez) Hutchings, his brothers William (Mary) Hutchings, Pat (Debby) Hutchings, Joe (Bonnie) Hutchings, his sister Joyce (Joe Balas) Hutchings, sister in law Susan Hutchings, his grandchildren Michael, Leah, Ryder, Miley, Cameron, Alex Jr., Mia, and baby girl "V", along with many beloved nieces and nephews. Tony was predeceased by his parents Richard and Marian Hutchings and his brother Richard Hutchings. A celebration of Tony's life will be held 12 - 3 PM Saturday November 20, 2021 at the Homer Community Center, behind the Homer Fire Dept., Main Street Homer NY, 13077.
